The TB and Leprosy Free Chuuk Campaign conducted mass screenings for TB, Hansen’s disease, and diabetes in the Mortlock and Hall Islands from May 23 to June 11, 2024. The campaign saw high community participation, screening 1,433 individuals, performing over 400 chest X-rays, and identifying 24 active TB cases and 172 latent TB cases. Additionally, 1,100 people received medication to prevent leprosy, and 120 individuals tested positive for diabetes, with 74 newly diagnosed. The campaign was a collaborative effort involving local health services, volunteers, and external partners. Further screening campaigns and strong contact investigations are planned to continue the fight against TB and leprosy in Chuuk.

The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) participated in the 77th World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva from May 27 to June 1, 2024, addressing global health issues like tuberculosis, vaccination, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and emergency preparedness. FSM emphasized robust immunization programs, highlighted the threat of AMR, and advocated for stronger emergency response capacities. They reaffirmed commitment to global health goals and were elected as a Vice Chair of the WHO Executive Board, reflecting FSM’s growing influence in global health governance.

The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) National Government, through the Office of the President, in collaboration with the Department of Justice and the Department of Health and Social Affairs, has successfully delivered essential supplies to FSM athletes participating in the 2024 Micro-Games in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
