Health leaders from across the FSM gathered in Weno, Chuuk, August 10–12 for the 2026 Second Bi-Annual Health Leadership Meeting. Leaders and partners discussed health priorities, digital health, workforce development, financing, cybersecurity, and data. The meeting reinforced a shared commitment to challenging the status quo and improving healthcare for all FSM people.
The FSM Department of Health and Social Affairs launched the Pohnpei Outer-Islands Dispensary Rehabilitation Project on July 20, 2026, in partnership with the Micronesia Red Cross Society. The initiative will rehabilitate dispensaries across five outer islands, strengthen community-led healthcare infrastructure, and lay the foundation for improved medical services, connectivity, and future telehealth access.
Palikir, Pohnpei — The FSM Department of Health & Social Affairs (DHSA) conducted a two-day Sexual Harassment Policy Workshop to strengthen workplace safety, professionalism, and accountability. Staff learned reporting procedures, clarified the roles of Sexual Harassment Contact Officers, and developed 90-day action plans to promote respectful workplaces. The workshop was supported by the Australian Government.
The FSM Preventive Health Block Grant Advisory Committee will conduct a Public Hearing on July 1, 2026, regarding the 2026 FSM PHHS Block Grant Community Projects, including initiatives for clean water, NCDs, and sexual offenses. Participants can join via Zoom and submit comments until 5 PM on the hearing date.

The Department of Health and Social Affairs (DHSA) is one of the executive departments of the FSM National Government. Its mandate is to promote the health and welfare of the people of this nation. To achieve that goal, this Department is organized into two main divisions: Division of Health and the Division of Social Affairs.
The Division of Health oversees the implementation of all the health programs ranging from the prevention and control of communicable diseases (TB, Leprosy, STD) to non-communicable disease (diabetes, cancer, tobacco control related diseases), behavioral health and wellness (substance abuse prevention and treatment, mental health conditions), child and women’s, and immunization programs.
The Division of Social Affairs directs the social development of our youth, sports activities, elderly, and women. With a special lens on gender role advancement, the Division of Social Affairs facilitates implementation of agreements related to human rights on behalf of the FSM.
