The Sexually Transmitted Diseases program under the Communicable Diseases Section is fully funded by Federal Grant- PS-18-1801. Funds support the communicable disease programs to improve fragmented health systems infrastructure and service delivery and strengthening the health systems by developing the public healthcare workforce through training and education, and improving public health laboratory capacity while ensuring quality of services.

Goal is to improve the efficient use of resources through the integration of screening and treatment of multiple diseases such as HIV, VH, STD and TB & Leprosy in persons with similar risks factors in Federated States of Micronesia.

Communicable Diseases Activities for STD includes:

  1. Case Finding, Treatment Initiation and Treatment completion
  2. Contact Investigation and Partner Treatment
  3. Surveillance
  4. Co-Infection Assessment and Management
    1. TB/HIV
    2. STD/HIV
    3. STD in Pregnant Women
  5. Key Population Identification and Screening
  6. Prevention of Diseases
    1. Condom Distribution
    2. Awareness
